Masoni Raves About
Masoni Raves About was my opinion-driven blog about philosophy, politics, music, and movies published and maintained from 2007 to 2010.
The website became a significant hobby of mine, and I focused a lot of my energy on adding new content, marketing the site and its brand,1 and fostering a community there. Many of the high school (and later college) papers I wrote made their way onto the site.
All told, I had several hundred posts published there before the blog was decommissioned in 2011, and replaced with The Masoni Review.
Audience & engagement
At the time, Blogger had implemented several social media–adjacent features to encourage communication and engagement across blogs hosted there. The philosophical and religious content I posted on Masoni Raves About garnered an audience of other bloggers2 who would debate metaphysical assertions in the comments.
In an effort to expand my reach and publish more frequently, I later invited a friend to contribute content under the moniker Anton. His content typically focused on current events, given the focus on the 2008 presidential election, and his poetry or artistic pursuits.
Updates & versions
Over the lifetime of the blog, I posted dozens of “updates” which took different forms over time, but which served as a de facto “version number” for the website. These included site infrastructure changes, like the migration from Blogger to iWeb and back again, as well as life events that were meaningful at the time, like getting an iPhone or changing the tone or direction of the site.
Update posts and summaries to be added here.
